Five years ago, on this day i.e. November 15, SONY launched PlayStation 4. The first ever PlayStation was introduced 24 years ago on December 3, 1994. There is a number of inventions in the entertainment industry and the scientific interventions that have contributed for the social benefit – it all owes all to Information Technology and brains behind them. Technology has actually helped those who are color blind, even they can see the joys of life. Latest advancements have gone big, and significance for the greater public interest.
Realizing the potential of technology which we had forgotten long ago, Punjab made serious progress through e-governance and even a few Muslim countries had approached PITB for replication of some of the IT ideas in their region. With the help of the same, Punjab fought dengue through digital mapping, similarly schools were tapped, centralized drug procurement was managed through warehousing, IT also helped in introduction of E-facilitation center where around twenty services are provided to ordinary citizens under one roof, transportation system has digital support for effective time and passenger management. From hospitals to universities, IT became the backbone during last few years – in a nutshell.
It would be unfair not to give credit to Dr. Umar Saif for his hard-work and expertise. These reforms have not only benefitted the public, but it earned good optics too. Even people from PTI considered him an asset for Punjab. Now, that Punjab government had started to manage its place in the good news, Dr. Saif’s removal has tainted the image that government has just started to begin.
People had voted PTI in power to work on projects regardless of any political victimization. This removal is very different from that of IGP Islamabad and DPO Pakpattan, this is correlated with governance and this is a direct attack on the administrative affairs which if further mismanaged shall cost PTI Pakistan’s most populous province Punjab in the short and long term both.
