Pilgrims urged to avoid political activities

Hafiz Muhammad Tahir Mahmood Ashrafi, the chairman of the Pakistan Ulema Council, has underlined that Pakistani pilgrims should abstain from engaging in any political action while on their pilgrimage.
Speaking at a press conference on Sunday at the Jamia Manzoor-ul-Islamia Cantonment, Ashrafi denounced the propagation of false information on social media for political purposes, especially in light of the most recent events in Kyrgyzstan. He emphasised that several thousand Pakistanis had departed for the Hajj, with more than 80,000 joining official groups and over 70,000 joining private ones. He thanked Saudi Arabia for enabling the Makkah programme, which provides supplies to pilgrims, and commended the programme itself.

He also stated that private organisations are dedicated to quickly resolving any grievances from pilgrims in Makkah, working in tandem with the Ministry of Religious Affairs.
