PCB dismisses rumours of team’s ‘curfew violation’ preceding India clash

LAHORE: The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) on Monday put a rest to rumours regarding the national cricket team’s curfew violation right before the World Cup clash against arch-rivals India.

The rumours had spread after videos and pictures of team members enjoying at a sheesha bar went viral online.

“The cricketers did not violate their curfew,” a PCB spokesperson told a local news outlet.

“The videos and photographs that went viral [on social media] are from two days before the match. The day before the match against India, all the players were in their hotel rooms by curfew time,” he said.

Meanwhile, Pakistan captain Sarfaraz Ahmed warned his teammates that they would face the music if they continued with below par performance.

“It’s foolish to think that I will be the only one going home. God forbid if something bad happens with the team, I won’t be the only facing the burnt, many others will also be relieved,” said the skipper whose own yawning picture has been circulating all over the internet.

Coach Mickey Arthur and senior players remained silent during the Sarfaraz’s speech to the team while the players listened to him with their heads hung low.

“Let’s do better in the next four games and lift the team up,” the captain urged while telling the players to forget the humiliating defeat and matches before that.
