On Wednesday, Pakistan and the World Bank decided to work together on a new, strong, and ambitious Country Partnership Framework (CPF) to advance the nation’s economic and reform objectives.
Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif and a group headed by Martin Raiser, the regional vice president of the World Bank for South Asia, came to an agreement during their meeting.
As he welcomed Martin Raiser, Prime Minister Shehbaz praised the World Bank’s role in Pakistan’s development.
After Pakistan experienced floods in 2022, the prime minister expressed gratitude to the Bank for providing funding in the construction of climate-resilient infrastructure. He gave the delegation an overview of the government’s reform programme, which includes improving per-acre yield, digitising the entire tax system, and reforming the power sector.
