Finance Minister Muhammad Aurangzeb dispelled rumours over the International Monetary Fund (IMF) mission’s visit to Pakistan by stating that “we shared the country’s economic road map” with IMF officials, indicating that there were no surprises.
The minister said these things at a press conference after the IMF’s delegation, headed by Nathan Porter, concluded a visit from November 12 to 15.
Aurangzeb welcomed the Fund mission’s visit and stated, “They [IMF] didn’t say anything that we weren’t aware of already […] there were no surprises.”
There were rumours that the federal government might have to release a mini-budget as a result of the unexpected visit from the global lender.
