Pakistan criticised the Indian Supreme Court’s latest ruling on Friday, which upheld its previous ruling that had supported the Indian government’s unilateral move to revoke Jammu and Kashmir’s special status by amending Article 370 of the Constitution through legislation in 2019.
“We reject the Indian Supreme Court’s new order in the same manner as we rejected its previous order on December 11, 2023. At her weekly press briefing, Foreign Office spokesperson Mumtaz Zahra Baloch stated, “Two verdicts fail to recognise the internationally recognised disputed nature of Jammu and Kashmir…Indian Supreme Court judgements cannot distract the international community’s attention from the gross and systemic human rights violation in Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir.”
