In order to strengthen and expand its relations with China, Pakistan is keen to access the Yuan bond market and will support business stock listings in Hong Kong, according to Senator Muhammad Aurangzeb, Federal Minister for Finance and Revenue.
Minister Aurangzeb stated in an interview with Nikkei Asia that a panda bond should be issued for the first time by the end of this year. On the margins of the annual Asian Financial Forum in Hong Kong, the minister stated that “it’s not a question of amount,” despite the fact that the move is anticipated to be worth between $200 million and $250 million.
“What is important is that we do go for an inaugural issue and then, once it’s successful, we can always keep it on tap,” he stated.
