On Thursday, Pakistan’s President Asif Ali Zardari declared his country’s commitment to boosting mental health services and the nation’s overall mental health.
“To reduce stress and anxiety, I urge everyone to embrace better lifestyles, maintain relationships with loved ones, and get regular exercise. The president stated, “Together, through our individual and collective efforts, we can build a healthier nation,” in a statement on October 10, which is World Mental Health Day.
He added that today was World Mental Health Day, a day to promote awareness of mental health issues and the importance of helping those in need by offering counselling and assistance.
The necessity of establishing healthy work environments is highlighted by this year’s subject, “Mental Health at Work.”
“The president stated in a press release that addressing mental health at work has become more urgent than ever, as nearly 60% of the world’s population is in the workforce,”
According to the president, unfavourable working conditions and workplace harassment have a negative impact on employees’ mental health in addition to decreasing productivity.
Therefore, he emphasised, it was essential that employers and other stakeholders create a safe and supportive work environment to enhance mental health and increase productivity.
He stated that Pakistan was dedicated to enhancing mental health and that they had started the National Mental Health Helpline (1166) to demonstrate their commitment to offering easily available assistance.
