Pakistan acknowledged and applauded China’s involvement in bringing the Palestinian political factions together for substantive negotiations on Thursday, while also welcoming the “Declaration of Unity” inked by the factions in Beijing.
At her weekly press briefing, Foreign Office spokesperson Mumtaz Zahra Baloch stated, “Unity among the Palestinian people is of paramount significance in view of the ongoing war crimes against the Palestinian people, particularly in Gaza, and the blatant disregard for international law by the Israeli occupation forces.”
Invoking immediate action from the international community to terminate the unlawful and ceaseless assault in Gaza, she restated Pakistan’s backing for the fulfilment of the Palestinian people’s unalienable right to self-determination and their right to return to Palestine.
Regarding the periodic report of the Human Rights Committee in Geneva on India, she said that during the proceedings, significant concerns were brought up regarding the frequent suspension of mobile internet service in Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir and the arrests made under harsh laws such as the Public Safety Act and Public Security Act.
This indicates that the deplorable state of human rights in IIOJK continues to worry the international human rights apparatus. She reaffirmed Pakistan’s ongoing political, diplomatic, and moral support for the Kashmiri people. “We call on the international community to take note of these human rights abuses by India in IIOJK and to bring an end to the suppression of the Kashmiri people,” she said.
