Jawad Sohrab Malik, Special Assistant to the Prime Minister (SAPM) on Overseas Pakistanis and Human Resource Development, met with Australian High Commissioner to Pakistan Neil Hawkins on Friday, marking an important step towards improving labour mobility between Australia and Pakistan. A news statement published here stated that the purpose of the meeting was to explore new opportunities for enhancing labour mobility between the two countries and to strengthen cooperation. The SAPM highlighted the possibility of resolving labour shortages through collaboration in a number of industries and provided information about the large pool of competent Pakistani experts and workers prepared to support the Australian labour market. The primary focus of the conversation was the necessity of safe routes for labour movement in order to decrease unauthorised immigration from Pakistan to Australia.
