Imran Khan, the chairman of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), requested bail in the cypher case, and the Supreme Court responded by sending notifications to the interior ministry and the federation on Wednesday. A three-judge panel made up of Justice Sardar Tariq Masood, Justice Yahya Afridi, and Justice Ayesha Malik heard the plea. The bench first questioned when the matter arose and what the consequences would be if a guilty verdict was reached. The court was then told by Khan’s attorney, Barrister Salman Safdar, on the findings of the probe and the charges levied against the former prime minister. He continued by saying that Azam Khan, Khan’s principal secretary at the time, had also charged the PTI leader with cypher misuse. Justice Masood then asked if the co-accused’s position was decided in the case.
The Islamabad High Court (IHC) has summoned caretaker prime minister Anwaar ul Haq Kakar to appear in person on November 29 in connection with a lawsuit involving the missing Baloch students. The government’s inability to locate missing kids prompted the court to issue its orders, which were made public today during the hearing on the enforcement of the commission’s findings. On the issue, advocate Imaan Mazari had moved the IHC. Following this, the court mandated that the government produce the 55 students who went missing, following the recommendations made by the Baloch Enforced Disappearance Commission. In exchange for 150 Palestinians detained in Israel, the Israeli government and Hamas agreed to a four-day ceasefire on Wednesday. This would also permit the entry of humanitarian supplies into the besieged enclave and the release of 50 hostages held in Gaza. For days, representatives of the US, Israel, Hamas, and Qatar, which has been mediating the talks, have claimed that a settlement was almost certain. Israeli counts indicate that Hamas killed 1,200 people on October 7 when its members stormed into Israel, taking more than 200 hostages. According to a statement from the office of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, 50 women and children will be freed over the course of four days, during which time there would be no fighting.

The Islamabad High Court (IHC) ruled on Tuesday that the notice from August 29 about PTI chief Imran Khan’s detention trial in “judicial lockup” in the cypher case was unlawful. While considering Imran’s intra-court appeal against the ruling of a one-member bench that had permitted the ex-premier’s jail trial in the cypher case, the court issued guidelines. It is important to remember that while the PTI chief’s sentence in the Toshakhana case was suspended by the IHC on August 29, jail officials were instructed to keep Imran in “judicial lockup” in the cypher case by a special court created under the Official Secrets Act. Imran’s intra-court appeal was deemed valid by the IHC division bench, which included Justices Saman Rafat Imtiaz and Mian¬gul Hassan Aurangzeb.
