Citing Pakistan’s wealth of natural resources, President Dr. Arif Alvi stated on Tuesday that the country would have to embrace cutting-edge agricultural technology and make wise decisions if it was to meet the challenges posed by climate change. In his opening speech at the Institute of Regional Studies-organized Regional Dialogue 2024 on “Climate Crisis: Shaping South Asia’s Resilience,” the president stated that while Pakistan had abundant water resources and potential for renewable energy, it desperately needed a driving force to put the decisions into action and raise the country to the level of the rest of the world. He informed the group of scholars, experts, and former diplomats that Pakistan has about 150 million acre-feet of water, more than enough to cover its needs using current agricultural methods.
Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) Qazi Faez Isa has noted why Qasim Suri, the leader of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) and a former deputy speaker of the National Assembly, should not be prosecuted by the supreme court for violating the Constitution. Qasim Suri abstained from voting in the motion of no confidence. The CJP made this comment in reference to the 2022 issue surrounding the removal of then-prime minister Imran Khan through parliamentary vote: “He became the cause of the constitutional crisis in the country.” According to the CJP, there was a suggestion that Suri be put on trial for treason under Article 6. “So tell us, why don’t we take legal action against you to revoke the Constitution?”

Pakistan has denounced the building of the ‘Ram Temple’ and its inauguration at the location of the destroyed Babri Mosque in the Indian city of Ayodhya. In a statement released today, the Foreign Office said that an extreme mob destroyed the centuries-old mosque on December 6, 1992. Sadly, India’s top court not only cleared the perpetrators of this heinous crime but also approved the building of a temple on the location of the destroyed mosque. According to the Foreign Office, India is becoming more and more majoritarian as a result of the events of the previous 31 years, which culminated in today’s consecration ceremony. These represent a significant aspect of the continuous endeavours to marginalise Indian Muslims on the social, economic, and political fronts.

QUETTA: According to media reports, interim Baloch information minister Jan Achakzai asserted that individuals designated as “missing persons” by Baloch demonstrators were, in reality, “terrorists” who perished in Pakistan’s most recent operation inside Iran. Speaking at a press conference in Quetta today, Achakzai chastised the protesters staging a sit-in to voice their opposition to Islamabad’s enforced disappearances. He asserted, alluding to Pakistan’s airstrikes within Iran, that “terrorists [and] killed in Iran were those who were being labelled as missing persons.” He claimed that Mahrang Baloch, the protest’s leader, has been fabricating “drama” and disparaging Pakistan while disguising the problem of missing persons. According to the provincial minister of information, Baloch demonstrators were putting on the sit-in in Islamabad with hidden agendas.
