Federal Minister for Energy (Power Division) Owais Ahmad Khan Laghari has issued orders to replace all overloaded transformers and upgrade the system in MAPCO region and has said to remove wire nets in all operation circles of the region including Dera Ghazi Khan Circle. Low tension schemes should be made for and the situation of power supply should be improved by bifurcation/area planning of feeders.
He was addressing a high-level meeting of MAPCO through video link. He directed Chief Executive Officer Mapco Engineer Rana Muhammad Ayub Khan to stop illegal constructions under low tension/high tension lines and electrical installations and to take emergency measures to prevent accidents. To reduce the rate of line losses, a pilot project should be started across the region. He said that new feeders should be established in 13 districts of South Punjab and bifurcation, rehabilitation, area planning of feeders with high load should be done. Steps should be taken for uninterrupted supply of electricity to consumers in summer. Chief Executive Officer Mapco Engineer Rana Muhammad Ayub Khan while briefing the Federal Minister said that in order to reduce the rate of losses on high loss feeders in South Punjab, an operation is being conducted against electricity thieves and the load is being transferred to other feeders by area planning of overloaded feeders. Orders have been issued to the Directorate of Construction to prepare lottenation schemes and their implementation will be started immediately. General Manager Technical Jam Gul Mohammad Zahid, Director General Mirad Sohail Bhatti, Finance Director Mian Ansar Mehmood, Chief Engineer Planning and Engineering Chaudhry Khalid Mehmood, Project Director Construction Farhan Shabir Malik, Director IT Muhammad Iqbal and other officers were also present.
