ISLAMABAD: On Wednesday, Khurram Dastgir Khan, the federal minister for power, claimed that the political persecution suffered by the opposition parties under the PTI-led administration was the worst ever.
Speaking on the National Assembly floor, he claimed that fake cases had been brought against the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz and Pakistan People’s Party leadership at Imran Khan’s request. He asserted that the then-regime forced PML-N members to break with the party’s leadership. He regretted that Muhammad Nawaz Sharif, the three-time elected prime minister, was disqualified due to an Iqama rather than corruption allegations. He asserted that Nawaz Sharif was given an unfair trial and was permanently barred from office.
He requested for constituting a full court bench to decide political cases on merit in order to bring stability in the country. He said nobody would accept ‘selective justice’ through specific decisions.
Meanwhile, ambassador of the Republic of Tajikistan to Pakistan Mr. Ismatullah Nasruddin called on Federal Minister for Power Division Engineer Khuram Dastgir Khan here on Wednesday.
The minister appreciated the mutual cooperation and efforts of the Tajik government in the power sector, said a press release.
The Tajik ambassador assured his government’s support for innovation in the power sector, it was further said.
Khuram Dastgir also extended an invitation to his Tajik counterpart to visit Pakistan through the ambassador.
