ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif stated on Sunday that Youm-e-Takbeer was more than just a single day, but also the tale of Pakistan’s arduous and inspiring journey to achieve credible minimum deterrence.
The prime minister claimed that Pakistan established a redline for its defense on that day and established ground rules for regional peace and stability. As the country marks the 25th anniversary of Youm-e-Takbeer on Sunday, he tweeted, “On the Silver Jubilee of Youm-e-Takbeer, I pay rich tributes to the political & military leadership, scientists, engineers and all those who remained associated with our nuclear program.”
The prime minister further said that their hard work, commitment and determination made it possible for the people to guard their independence from any physical threat.
“The day represents how the consensus between all elements of national power achieved what once looked like an uphill task,” he posted in a tweet.
The prime minister said Shaheed Zulifkar Ali Bhutto was a visionary leader who initiated the nuclear programme, adding in a show of bold leadership, his leader Mian Nawaz Sharif firmly rejected the policy of stick and carrot and made sure that the country became nuclear.
“All along, our armed forces remained a guardian & protector of the programme in the face of malign intentions of our enemies,” he said.
Meanwhile, In a statement issued on Sunday, Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) vice-president Hamza Shehbaz highlighted the significant role played by his party in bolstering Pakistan’s defence capabilities, making it invincible.
The statement was released on the occasion of Youm-e-Takbeer (May 28), a day commemorating Pakistan’s nuclear tests.
Hamza Shehbaz highlighted that May 28 holds great importance not only for Pakistan but also for the entire Muslim Ummah. He praised PML-N chief Nawaz Sharif for his unwavering commitment to national interests, as he took the courageous step of approving nuclear tests, thereby transforming Pakistan into a nuclear power.
This decision by Nawaz Sharif, according to Hamza Shehbaz, symbolizes national security, defence, and honour.
Asserting unity among PML-N members, Hamza Shehbaz expressed their unwavering dedication to national defense, development, and prosperity.
He vowed that no obstacle would hinder their progress towards achieving these goals. Moreover, he stressed his readiness to make any necessary sacrifices to safeguard Pakistan’s geographical and ideological boundaries.
