In the Senate on Wednesday, Caretaker Minister for Interior, Senator Sarfaraz Ahmed Bugti, made clear his position on the situation, rejecting the role of any one political party in the recent unrest in Balochistan. This response was given in response to a question posed by Senator Muhammad Qasim, who had voiced disapproval of Bugti’s previous comments. The Minister emphasised that he had not connected any political party—including the BNP-M—directly to the disturbances. He went on to say that the BNP-M was the political ally of both the federal and provincial administrations, and that instead of politicising the subject of missing persons at this time and raising protests, they should handle it during their terms in office.
