Maryam Nawaz, the chief organizer of the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N), poked fun at Imran Khan, the chairman of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), and urged her father, Nawaz Sharif, to lend some bravery to the PTI leader, who had allegedly fled from his home in Zaman Park out of fear of being arrested.

In a statement, she mocked the PTI chief, saying that despite being innocent, her father Nawaz Sharif flew back to Pakistan from London with his daughter’s support and courted his arrest, unlike a “thief[referring to Imran] who would use daughters of others as a shield”. The former prime minister was further criticized by Maryam Nawaz, who claimed that “people can now distinguish between a national leader and a ‘phony’.”

Reacting to the unruly behaviour of PTI workers, Maryam Nawaz called on Imran Khan to be ‘brave’ and surrender to the police. She also criticized PTI workers for their alleged unruly behaviour and quipped Imran Khan that he should not panic.

“Today the nation has recognized who is brave and who is a coward. Be brave and surrender yourself to the law,” Maryam Nawaz tweeted. “This is not the first time the law has come knocking on the doors of those in power. Don’t panic, and don’t let your workers create chaos,” she concluded.

Meanwhile, Minister for Information and Broadcasting Marriyum Aurangzeb said on Sunday said that Imran Khan who allegedly stole the Toshakhana gifts and was “responsible” for economic destruction and inflation in the country had “escaped from Zaman Park residence fearing imminent arrest”.

She said that the PTI chief had allegedly “dodged his daughter”, and now the latter escaped from Zaman Park residence by “dodging children, party workers and women” [gathered outside at his Zaman Park residence].

Sharing a picture of Nawaz Sharif, she said that genuine leaders bravely face arrest even in sham cases, but “jackal criminals like Imran flee away[fearing arrest]”.

Earlier, Minister for Information and Broadcasting Marriyum Aurangzeb informed on Sunday that Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has reached Doha, Qatar on a two-day visit.

She said the Prime Minister will attend the fifth session of the United Nations Conference on Least Developed Countries starting today.
