Nation suffered due to deviation from Constitution: Marriyum Aurangzeb

ISLAMABAD: Marriyum Aurangzeb, minister of information and broadcasting, congratulated the country on Monday. on the 50th anniversary of the Constitution of 1973.

She explained, “It is the book of the people’s rights and the obligations of the state institutions; it is the guarantor of unity and consensus, justice and fairness, equality and freedom.” It is a promise made to Allah Almighty that the people will exercise their sovereignty through elected officials, who will represent Allah Almighty. She claimed that because of past constitutional violations, the nation and the state suffered greatly and had to deal with terrorism, inflation, economic collapse, and social unrest.

By deviating from the constitution, institutions were destroyed and justice was replaced by injustice, she maintained.

She said that today the nation should pledge that during the next 50 years, the mistakes of the past 50 years will be corrected and the sufferings of the nation will be healed.
