The National Assembly Secretariat eliminated 220 unnecessary posts, spanning from grades 1 to 19, as part of the country’s austerity drive, saving the national purse more than Rs 563 million a year.
The Finance Committee authorised the execution of the austerity plan at a meeting presided over by Speaker National Assembly Sardar Ayaz Sadiq. A thorough examination and enhancement of the procedures for selecting, removing, assigning, and promoting staff members within the National Assembly Secretariat were part of the strategy. Additionally, it makes these processes more transparent.
The first two of the three phases that make up the implementation of the cost-cutting initiatives have already been finished. Ninety unused positions in different categories were removed in the first phase, saving Rs 255 million a year.
