N.Korea says tested new ICBM, prepared for long confrontation with U.S.
SEOUL, – North Korea said on Thursday it had tested a new, powerful type of intercontinental ballistic missile that lifted its ban on long-range testing in 2017. And there was international condemnation.
State media said leader Kim Jong Un led the Hwasong-17 test, a “new type” of intercontinental ballistic missile, North Korea’s largest missile ever. He said it was key to preventing a nuclear war. Read more
It said the missile flew at an altitude of 1,090 kilometers (681 miles) to a maximum altitude of 6,248.5 kilometers (3,905 miles) and hit a target precisely at sea.
