Islamabad: Syed Murtaza Mahmud, the federal minister for production and industries, emphasized the importance of promoting agricultural credit for cutting-edge technologies as well as farm mechanization to increase agricultural productivity.
At an international training course on productivity gainsharing in agribusiness enterprises in Islamabad, he addressed the attendees and said this. He continued by saying that producing value-added goods from raw produce can help agribusiness. He claimed that local initiatives for rural youth to develop their skills can meet the demand for a skilled labor force. He emphasized the use of efficient irrigation techniques, such as drip irrigation and sprinkler irrigation, as well as the best use of intermediate inputs, such as fertilizers, seeds, and pesticides, for improved crop production.
He suggested for promoting low cost enterprise development programs like honey bee keeping and floriculture to create employment opportunities for the rural youths.
He said this training course will provide knowledge on the application of gainsharing tools and share best practices to make agribusiness enterprises more productive and profitable.
Gainsharing has the potential to contribute to agricultural productivity as farmers are empowered, actors in supply chains are motivated to create increased feeling of ownership, and companies receive greater profits due to higher productivity and enhanced efficiency throughout supply chains.
