ISLAMABAD Gohar Ejaz, the acting minister of commerce, has urged business people to support the nation’s economy by following laws and making timely tax payments. He was speaking during a meeting in Islamabad with representatives of the Khyber Chamber of Commerce and Industry. He underlined the need of public-private partnerships in promoting innovation and research to raise productivity in the jewellery and gems industry. Henny Fokel de Vries, the Netherlands’ ambassador to Pakistan, spoke with Dr. Gohar Ejaz, the minister of commerce and industries, on Wednesday on how to investigate opportunities for future cooperation. The Minister acknowledged the Netherlands as one of Pakistan’s top ten trading partners and discussed Pakistan’s enormous investment potential, especially in the fields of mining, agriculture, and information technology.
