Minister sets April 23 deadline to curb power pilferage

Sardar Awais Ahmad Khan Leghari, the Minister of Power, has set a deadline of April 23 for all Chairmen and CEOs of Power Distribution Companies (DISCOs) to fully stop power theft.

According to a statement released by the Power Division here on Monday, the minister declared that the present efforts to reduce the threat of power theft were insufficient and ordered tough action against power thieves. He said that the numbers did not correspond to the true damages caused by power theft.

He declared that the current administration is dedicated to eliminating the threat of power theft and has zero tolerance for power theft.

He advised all the concerned personnel to identify and confront all the sources of electricity theft. Concerned field workers, XENs, SDOs, and SEs are required to provide a certificate of no theft.
