Chaudhry Salik Hussain, the Minister for Religious Affairs and Interfaith Harmony, expressed sadness on Sunday for the recent turmoil in Sargodha that followed an alleged instance of blasphemy.
He denounced the accusations and the ensuing chaos in a statement, stressing the value of upholding the law and preserving order.
Salik praised “the reaction of Punjab Police and other law enforcement agencies in promptly addressing the situation,” stressing that it is against religious teachings to respond rashly to rumours in contrast to those that support patience and due process.
