Muhammad Sami Saeed, the caretaker minister for planning, development, and special initiatives, presided over a meeting on Thursday to discuss the state of the National Water Policy framework’s execution and the sector’s progress in terms of water resources. According to a news release from the ministry, Member Infrastructure, Chief Water Resources, and other pertinent stakeholders attended the meeting. The minister received a thorough briefing at the conference regarding the Indus Basin Irrigation System (IBIS), its water availability, the overall water demand of each sector, and the issues posed by the system’s growing population and inefficient use of its water resources. Important aspects of the 2018 National Water Policy, as well as its strategic goals and 2023 national targets, were also covered.
