Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi issued an order on Sunday to provide urgent passports within seven days after observing delays in passport issuance for Pakistanis living abroad.
He announced that standard passports will be provided to Pakistanis residing overseas in 30 days during his visit to the Passport and NADRA office in London. He declared, “The policy will apply to all Pakistani missions worldwide,” and that “passport issuance delays will not be tolerated at any cost.”
Before the interior minister’s directives, Pakistanis living abroad would typically receive regular passports in four months and urgent passports in 1.5 months.
He made it plain that if the bureaucrats failed to issue the passports by the deadline, he would take appropriate measures.
