Sarfraz Bugti, the interim interior minister, gave agencies and officials instructions on Tuesday to treat undocumented immigrants with dignity when they are being held in holding centres after the deadline. Speaking to reporters here, he declared that personnel found to have mistreated immigrants, particularly Afghans, during their transfer to detention facilities will face severe consequences. He said that in order to promptly handle allegations of abuse or mistreatment involving any illegal immigrant, the ministry had set up a complaint cell with a hotline number. The minister stated, “We have given clear instructions to all agencies and officials to treat women, children, and elders with special care and respect.” She also mentioned that the holding centres were used to make the arraignments for food and medical services.
