In consultation with the Lebanese government, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif announced on Tuesday that the government has devised a plan to guarantee the safe repatriation of Pakistani citizens who are stranded in Syria.
Speaking at the federal cabinet meeting he convened, the prime minister stated that 250 Pakistani pilgrims were stuck in Syria, where the situation quickly became heated and Pakistan adopted a neutral stance. Additionally, 300 other Pakistanis, including students and instructors, who were residing in Syria also stated that they wanted to leave.
He stated that in order to guarantee the safe return of the Pakistani citizens, the foreign ministry and Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar were in communication with Pakistan’s embassy in Damascus.
