The United States on Monday voiced concerns over the sudden declaration made by the PML-N-led government that it intends to ban its political opposition PTI due to its purported involvement in anti-state activities, just hours after the well-debated subject in Pakistan.
Information Minister Attaullah Tarar earlier today declared that the federal government would file a reference for treason under Article 6 for the dissolution of the lower house of parliament in April 2022 against then-president Arif Alvi, then-prime minister Imran Khan, and then-deputy speaker of the National Assembly Qasim Suri.
“The PTI has engaged in anti-state activities; this is a reality and something that is documented. In order to do this, the government and its supporters have chosen to file a lawsuit to outlaw the PTI.
