Maryam urges parliament to hold Imran’s ‘facilitators’ accountable

LAHORE– Maryam Nawaz, senior vice president of the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N), stated on Tuesday that the parliament should take action in an effort to hold those responsible for giving Imran Khan, chairman of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), facilities.

Ms. Nawaz said, “It is not enough from the federal cabinet to denounce the verdict delivered by a three-member bench” when she expressed her concerns about the Supreme Court’s ruling. She referred to 2018, saying, “The accountability that was assumed by Khosa and Saqib Nisar back in 2018 has now been taken by the current bench.” The Punjab government was turned over to Imran Khan after the constitution was changed, she continued, and “today’s verdict is the last attack of the conspiracy.”

She went on to say the PML-N leadership had in the past faced the disqualification, adding that the leadership will again bear the disqualification if it happened.

Talking about PML-N supremo Nawaz Sharif’s disqualification, Ms Nawaz said, “The PML-N supremo’s disqualification over the judgement that came on iqama was even intact today”.
