Malala Yousafzai, a Nobel Peace Prize winner and advocate for education, has been the talk of the town ever since she made her Oscars debut yesterday.
With her husband, Asser Malik, the youngest Nobel Prize winner entered the red carpet at the 2019 Academy Awards wearing a silver sequined gown with an attached headscarf. Malala’s dress turned out to be a specially made Ralph Lauren creation. Lauren is a well-known fashion designer, philanthropist, and billionaire businessman from the United States. He founded the multibillion-dollar Ralph Lauren Corporation.
The focal point of Malala’s silver dress, which featured long sleeves and a cinched detail on one side of the waist, were her accessories. The 25-year-old kept it simple by accessorizing her dress with platinum pendant earrings, a silver diamond ring, and a gold ring. Her look was finished with a pop of red on her lips and minimal makeup. Malik, meanwhile, wore a white shirt and a dark tuxedo. As the executive producer of the Oscar-nominated short documentary Stranger at the Gate, Malala attended the film’s most prestigious awards. Malala stated on Instagram that she wanted her dress to embody hope and represent the message of her movie Stranger at the Gate.
“It was all a dream I wanted my dress to represent the message of our film @strangeratthegate and embody hope. Thank you so much to the brilliant team that helped bring my vision to life,” wrote the activist.
In addition to her advocacy work, Malala has also been involved in producing films that promote education and social justice. Her Oscar-nominated documentary short is just one example of the powerful storytelling that she has brought to the screen.
