Legal Aid, Justice Authority (Amendment) Bill, sails through Senate

The Legal help and Justice Authority (Amendment) Bill, 2024, which aims to guarantee free legal help to the underprivileged, was unanimously approved by the Senate on Friday.

According to the Standing Committee’s report, Azam Nazeer Tarar, the Minister of Law and Justice, advanced the bill in the House to alter the Legal Aid and Justice Authority Act, 2020 [The Legal Aid and Justice Authority (Amendment) Bill, 2024].

According to Azam Nazeer Tarar, Minister of Law and Justice, the standing committee overwhelmingly approved the bill.

The bill would transfer administrative authority over the Legal and Justice Authority from the Ministry of Human Rights to the Law Ministry.
With few changes, the National Forensic Agency Bill, 2024 was unanimously approved by the Senate on Friday.
