Sen. Azam Nazeer Tarar, the minister of law and justice, praised on Monday the confidence shown by the legal community in the establishment of the inquiry panel and the selection of Tassaduq Hussain Jilani, a former chief justice, to lead it in matters pertaining to judges’ letters.
He stated in a statement that the Supreme Court Bar Association’s and the Pakistan Bar Council’s pronouncements demonstrate their sincerity about the independence and impartiality of the legal system. The Pakistan Bar Council is the biggest association of lawyers in the nation.
He stated that the bar councils of Islamabad, Punjab, and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa have also expressed trust in the commission’s establishment and the appointment of its head to look into the issue surrounding the judges’ letter to the Supreme Judicial Council (SJC) from the IHC.
