Law Minister introduces Tax Law Amendment Bill

Azam Nazeer Tarar, the federal minister of law and justice, filed a bill on Wednesday that would change a specific tax legislation. (The National Assembly’s Tax Law Amendment Bill 2024).

The minister emphasised that there are ongoing tax issues totaling Rs 2,700 billion in several appeal forums, such as Pakistan’s Supreme Court, appeal Tribunals, Commissioners’ Appeals, and High Courts.

He declared that the government was receptive to criticism of the law from the opposition and other interested parties.

According to him, broadening the tax base was essential to bolstering the nation’s economy.
The minister stated that the draft bill had been discussed with the Tax Bar Association.
