Justice Aalia Neelum, a woman judge, was named Chief Justice of the Lahore High Court for the first time in history.
Her name was unanimously confirmed by the Supreme Judicial Council (SJC) during a meeting presided over by Pakistan’s Chief Justice, Qazi Faez Isa. For this position, the council also gave Justice Shujaat Ali Khan and Justice Baqar Najafi some thought.
She would take over for Justice Malik Shahzad Ahmad Khan, who was promoted to the Pakistan Supreme Court.
1966 saw the birth of Justice Neelum, who ranked third on the High Court’s seniority list. She graduated from Punjab University Law College in 1995 with a law degree, and she also possesses various other legal credentials.
In 1996, she became a certified lawyer and started her legal practice.
