JUI-F, or Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam-Fazl The “narrative” of May 9 has been “buried,” according to Emir Maulana Fazlur Rehman, if the establishment believes the elections held on February 8 were fair. This is because the candidates supported by the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) won the most seats in the National Assembly. After Imran Khan, the founder of the party, was detained on May 9 in connection with a graft investigation, PTI leaders and employees were rounded up. The miscreants targeted both military and civic installations, including the General Headquarters (GHQ) in Rawalpindi and Jinnah House, during the almost nationwide rallies. May 9 was dubbed “Black Day” by the military, who also decided to prosecute the demonstrators under the Army Act. The party experienced multiple defeats after the historic episode, and an exodus was thereafter observed.
