ISLAMABAD: Pakistan signed the Marrakesh Treaty on Tuesday, granting visually challenged people access to published works. At a special ceremony conducted here at the Aiwan-e-Sadr, President Dr. Arif Alvi signed the instrument of accession to the Marrakesh Treaty, which is administered by the World Intellectual Property Organisation (WIPO). The goal of the Marrakesh Treaty is to provide books and literary works in accessible formats to individuals who are blind or otherwise print-disabled. The Treaty, which was signed in Morocco on June 27, 2013, was ratified by several other nations. It permits the duplication of published content into accessible versions, including braille, big print, and audio editions.
