Multan: Inauguration of Women’s Youth Development & Sports Center, awareness walk and plantation campaign on International Women’s Day was held today at both campuses of the Women University Multan. Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Uzma Quraishi was the chief guest of the event. An awareness walk was organized by Department of Women Development Center at Matital campus. The walk was led by Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Uzma Quraishi along with Director of Women Development Center Dr. Shazia Parveen, chairpersons of all departments and students also participated. The students were holding placards and banners about the rights of women.
Later, tree plantation drive was started by VC Prof Dr Uzma Quraishi addressing the occasion she said that the modern world now recognizes the importance of women. Islam liberated women from the life of humiliation and slavery and freed them from oppression and exploitation. Islam destroyed all the ugly customs that were against the dignity of women and granted her numerous rights. As a human being, women have the same status as men. Whoever commits the deed, both male and female, will be fully and equally rewarded. Islam has given the right of property to women as well as to men. She can not only earn on her own but can also become the owner of inherited property. Today our women are using this right to get higher education and are also performing their duties in high positions. She gave examples of Hazrat Khadija-tul-Kubra (S.A), Hazrat Ayesha Siddiqa (S.A) and Hazrat Fatima-tul-Zahra (S.A) and advised the female students to follow the footsteps of these great women of Islamic History. Director Women Development Centre Dr. Shazia Parveen said that no society or country can develop without the participation of women and the women of Pakistan are also showing their talents at every level.
