As Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi wrapped up his three-day official visit to Pakistan on Wednesday, a joint statement from Tehran and Islamabad claimed that they had decided to “expeditiously finalise” a Free Trade Agreement (FTA).
“Both sides agreed to expeditiously finalise the FTA and hold the next sessions of annual Bilateral Political Consultations (BPC) and Joint Business Trade Committee (JBTC) as well as the 22nd round of the Joint Economic Commission (JEC) negotiations in the near future,” Iran and Pakistan said in a joint statement.
The FTA will boost mutual trade, according to Iranian Ambassador Dr. Reza Amiri Moghadam, who stated last month that strong air, maritime, and sea linkages are essential.
