Renala Khurd: The Inland Revenue Department Okara Zone joined hands with the University of Okara (UO) for raising awareness on tax collection among the local business community. In this regard, a rally was organized from Venice Square to Press Club. The UO’s Vice Chancellor, Prof Dr Sajid Rashid, along with the Commissioner Inland Revenue, Ali Adnan Khan, led the rally. Dr Zeeshan Anwar, Assistant Professor of Management Sciences at UO, coordinated the event. The objective of the walk that was also joined by a range of the business community and office bearers of the local trade union was to sensitize the people on timely submission of taxes. At this eve, talking to the participants of the rally, Prof Sajid offered his administration’s services in imparting awareness regarding the process of filing tax returns. He also announced to hold a series of awareness sessions and asked the business community to participate in them. Moreover, the VC said, “Pakistan has a lot of potential and resources to prosper. We just need to play our individual positive part. There is no question that the country will default as our people are resilient and hardworking.” The Commissioner thanked the VC and the community for participating in the rally and vowed to enhance the net of the tax collection through awareness and engagement. The UO is also hosting a ‘Tax Awareness Seminar’ today in collaboration with Inland Revenue Department.
