The illegal and unilateral measures taken by India on August 5, 2019, in IIOJK, according to Prime Minister Anwaar-ul-Haq Kakar, were a flagrant violation of international law, including the UN Charter, the 4th Geneva Convention, and the pertinent UN Security Council resolutions. In a message on February 5, Kashmir Solidarity Day, the prime minister stated, “India has since been engaged in efforts to further entrench these illegal measures through a series of steps aimed at altering the demographic structure and political landscape of IIOJK.” He explained that every year on February 5th, “Kashmir Solidarity Day” is commemorated to show Pakistan’s unflinching support for the legitimate struggle of the Kashmiri people to realise their right to self-determination.
