Imran’s plea in cipher case to be heard in open court: IHC

The Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) chief’s bail plea hearing in cypher case filed under Official Secrets Act would take place in open court, the Islamabad High Court (IHC) declared on Wednesday. Earlier this week, the IHC had reserved judgement about the FIA’s request for an in-camera hearing on the PTI chief’s bail request in the cypher case. The IHC stated in its ruling that the bail petition would be heard in open court on October 9. According to the IHC, lawyers’ arguments regarding documents deemed sensitive will be heard behind closed doors. In order to protect Pakistan’s diplomatic relations with foreign nations, the FIA on Monday asked the IHC to hold the former prime minister’s bail hearing behind closed doors.
