As he was leaving for Saudi Arabia for the Haj on Wednesday morning, anchor Imran Riaz was detained at the Lahore airport, according to his attorney.
Advocate Azhar Siddique said, “He was arrested by unidentified people who were accompanied by policemen,” and that there had also been an altercation at the airport.
The attorney for the anchorperson continued, “Imran Riaz has been granted bail in all the cases registered against him.”
Siddique then petitioned the Lahore High Court (LHC) for information about the first information report (FIR) that led to Riaz’s arrest. It needs to be fixed before a bench so that it can be heard.
According to the petition, which is available to the public, Riaz was scheduled to leave Lahore for Saudi Arabia in order to do the Hajj.
