The deadline for undocumented immigrants, including refugees from Afghanistan, to voluntarily return to their home countries expired on Tuesday. Following this, the government will begin a full-scale crackdown on them. About a month ago, thousands of illegal immigrants from other nations, including Afghan refugees, began returning home on the recommendation of the caretaker government. However, many continue to hide in order to evade the government’s warning. Prior to the deadline, Sarfraz Bugti, the acting interior minister, issued a press conference warning of harsh measures against individuals attempting to flee and against people who will assist undocumented immigrants in Pakistan. The minister disclosed that geofencing was being used by the government to gather information on all undocumented immigrants in Pakistan.
