Sanam Javed, the leader of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), is free to return home as the Islamabad High Court (IHC) has ordered the police not to arrest her till Thursday, July 18.
The father of Sanam Javed submitted a plea for her release, which the IHC heard on Monday. The hearing was presided over by Justice Miangul Hassan Aurangzeb, while Sanam was represented by Barrister Mian Ali Ashfaq.
In the courtroom were Sanam Javed, IG Islamabad Ali Nasir Rizvi, representatives of the Federal Investigation Agency, and members of the Balochistan Police.
Sanam Javed had frequently enquired with the Islamabad police, but no formal complaint had been filed against her, according to Barrister Mian Ali Ashfaq. Barrister Ali Ashfaq verified that she was being held from outside his office when Justice Miangul Hassan Aurangzeb inquired about her status.
