According to Minister of Information and Broadcasting Murtaza Solangi, unless the nation’s overall economic situation is improved to benefit the oppressed masses who risk their lives in order to pursue better opportunities abroad through illegal means, the problem of human trafficking will continue to be an insurmountable menace. During the fourth Senate meeting of the 334th Session, which was conducted here with only a small number of Upper House members present, the minister was answering questions from the senators. Senators Kamran Murtaza of Jamiaat Ulema-i-Islam Pakistan (JUI-P), Mushtaq Ahmed Khan of Jamaat-e-Islami Pakistan (JIP), and Nuzhat Sadiq, an independent, raised issues regarding government initiatives and their results to stop human trafficking.
