Huma Qureshi on Hollywood film Army of the Dead: Cannot wait to start filming

It was in 2012 that Huma Qureshi began her acting career with Anurag Kashyap’s Gangs of Wasseypur. Now seven years later, Huma has an interesting filmography to her credit. If she experimented in Bollywood with films like Dedh Ishiqya and Ek Thi Daayan, she romanced Rajinikanth in Kaala, and also worked in a Netflix original series – Leila. And now the 32-year-old actress is ready to embark on Hollywood journey. Huma Qureshi will be seen in Zack Snyder’s Army of the Dead.

In an exclusive interview with Cosmopolitan India, Huma Qureshi opened up on her Hollywood project. “I can’t tell you much about the film or my character, but I’m very excited and I can’t wait to start filming,” said Huma.

The actress revealed that Army of the Dead is in sync with the tradition of Zack’s mega-zombie films. When asked if she is taking any special training to prepare for the role, Huma said, “I’m a very instinctive actor, I switch on and switch off. I’m not a method actor, I hate the word ‘method acting’. It’s an overused and abused terminology. I collaborate with people on an intuitive level, which is why I consider myself a director’s actor. Having said that, every role demands a certain kind of prep, and I do prep a lot. But once I’m on the set, I just go with the flow.”

Huma Qureshi isn’t the only actress to venture into Hollywood. Earlier, Deepika Padukone and Priyanka Chopra also tried their hands in Hollywood, and have tried to maintain a balance between Bollywood and work in the West.

When asked which side would she pick (Hollywood or both), Huma said, “My side is every side. My side is good storytelling. I don’t mind doing a Tamil film, or an English film or a Hindi one, you know? As an artist, I just want to be a part of good stories and work with great collaborators, directors, and writers. That’s what really stimulates me.”
