President Dr. Arif Alvi stated on Tuesday that financially independent women play a significant role in socioeconomic development and that their emancipation required an environment free from harassment in the workplace. During an event hosted by the Federal Ombudsman Secretariat for Protection Against Harassment (FOSPAH), he stated, “The State and the society need to provide every woman a safe and secure space in public and domestic domains where they could thrive amid equal opportunities.” According to President Alvi, attitudes that encourage gender-based harassment need to change, and this obligation falls on both the State and society. According to him, there are various aspects of women’s empowerment, such as their entitlement to fair representation in the political, economic, and leadership domains.
