Hafiz Naeemur Rehman, a vocal leader, was chosen on Thursday to serve as Jamaat-e-Islami Pakistan’s new emir for the ensuing five years. In the most recent intra-party elections, more over 45,000 party members voted to choose the new emir, according to Qaisar Sharif, the secretary of JI Central Information. He said, “Naeem became the sixth emir of the party with over 80% of the votes.” According to the party’s communications secretary, he would continue to serve as its leader until 2029.
