On Wednesday, Rana Tanveer Hussain, the Federal Minister for Industries and Production, stated that the government planned to reform Utility Stores rather than shut them down.
In response to Raja Pervaiz Ashraf’s worries, he stated, “We are reforming Utility Stores, not closing them. In these stores, political appointments have been made.
According to him, regular Utility Store employees have a bright future.
The minister claimed that although the original purpose of utility stores was to help the public access less expensive everyday used goods, political factors led to many of them being opened in unneeded places.
In the National Assembly, Raja Pervaiz Ashraf brought up the matter, pointing out that the Minister of Industries and Production had earlier promised the House that utility stores would not be shut down.
